Multi-faceted guitarist Colin Sapp has carved a distinct new sound among guitarists by fusing elements of jazz, rock, blues, funk and
electronic music into a unique and stylized approach. Equally at home in many genres, Sapp has shown his versatility as a musician
by performing with countless independent artists over the past 15 years.
Originally from suburban Detroit, Sapp relocated to Boston and absorbed the east coast energy and experimental perspective. He
graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 2002, where he studied with some of today’s most unique and innovative
modern guitarists, such as Wayne Krantz, Dave Fiuczynski, Mick Goodrick, Jon Damien, and Tim Miller. Since then, Sapp has (most
notably) performed with Blue Note recording artist Kurt Elling and Concord Picante recording artist Dave Samuels.
Sapp is currently a member of Choose to Find, the Russell Wolff Band, Allyssa Jones’ Gemini 5 and also performs with Liz Carlisle.
Not to be lost in the mix is Sapp’s undeniable writing. His original jazz/jungle group Infinite Out is comprised of guitar, Rhodes,
electric bass and drums and is what he considers his main creative outlet when not performing with his other groups. In addition to
writing and performing, Sapp is also a faculty member at Berklee College of Music, where he is part of their community outreach
program. Sapp teaches rhythm section workshop classes at the Boston Arts Academy, private guitar lessons at Orchard Gardens
Public School, and is the Assistant to the Director of the Berklee Saturday Music Program at the Boston Arts Academy where he
teaches private lessons and leads the Advanced Jazz Ensemble. Sapp is also a highly regarded mastering engineer at Specialized
Mastering in Framingham, MA. |
